Due to 2 teams dropping out of the Veikkausliiga before the season started, only 12 teams will compete in 2011. Only one team will be relegated and there will be no relegation play-off.
AC Oulu & Tampere United
AC Oulu had its league licence revoked in February, due to financial problems. They dropped into the Ykkönen.
In addition, the Finnish FA expelled Tampere United from all competitions in April, due to irregularities relating to a marketing deal. Their last competitive game at this level was the League Cup Final.
