IE7 just say no

October 24th, 2006

IE7 is out at last and I’ve had a good look at it this evening. Errrr what’s new?

I mean really, what’s new, not copied, but really new? I can’t see any Firefox converts changing back. IE7 is better than IE6, what isn’t, but I get the feeling M$ are only playing catch up now. Would be nice to see them innovate a bit wouldn’t it?

And Firefox 2.0 is out now too, no major visual differences, but more secure. I hope both of them take up Opera 9’s page preview on tab idea. If you don’t know what I mean download and check it out, it’s the best feature I’ve seen on a browser for a while.

Count Defoe, Prince of darkness

October 24th, 2006

So Jermaine Defoe has a comedy nibble on Mascherano eh?

It’s only the start of Martin Jol’s cunning plan to convert Spurs to the dark side. Thursday, 14th December 2006, Dinamo Bucuresti (Romania), White Hart Lane. The secret weapon is primed and ready to go …Jermaine Defoe is ready

Stingrays and Steve Irwin

September 12th, 2006

I saw an item that can be found on the BBC News about the follow up to Steve Irwins death. What sort of morons would want to to this?! I would have thought ‘fans’ of Steve Irwin would have some idea about conservation, I’m also sure he would have been pretty pissed off about it. It just looks like an excuse to act like a twat to me.

Premiership/La Liga websites image rollover map

September 1st, 2006

Nine new css image rollover maps have been added to the site. They are European league sites including the English Premiership, Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A football maps. Hover reveals the teams badge and also a tooltip with the teams domestic and European trophy wins. Clicking on the badge will take you to the teams website.

I hope to be updating the Spurs trophy tooltip this season, but after the first 3 games, it’s looking a bit unlikely!! Please God don’t let Pompey finish above us.

George Bush ate my coral

August 30th, 2006

I was checking our website stats last night and noticed an unusual search term that found us.

‘Where to purchase Red Sea Coral’, I was a bit stunned to be honest.

1. How the f@$k did they get to our site? A reference to a Red Sea Coral Grouper apparently. So, not so smart then.

2. Who the hell want’s to buy coral anyway??! With the rate that coral reefs are being destroyed at present, you’d think that people were wising up to the fact and that it might be a good idea to leave the bloody stuff where it belongs … IN THE SEA!!

Checking further I see the searcher originated from Washington in the good old USA. Maybe it was that environmental enthusiast George W Bush, looking to add the destruction of the Red Sea to his list of wonderful achievments. I think we all know what the W stands for, unfortunately it doesn’t translate in the US :)
Wow two rants for the price of one, not bad eh?

Drop shadow the world

August 26th, 2006

Is there anywhere that you see on the internet, magazines or advertising hoardings, that drop shadows haven’t invaded?

Well just to expand their viral nature and eventual world domination, I’ve added a drop shadow tutorial under the imaging section of the site. I can’t apologise enough, so I won’t bother. I’ve included a link to the GIMP script-fu, instructions on how to implement it and a page on applying a drop shadow manually.

CSS menu templates

August 16th, 2006

We’ve changed the menu to make the site more accessable, and it looks better of course.
In the process we messed around with a few css designs, so rather than ditch them completely, they’ve been added for anyone who wants to use them. There are five different flavours which you can use as a template and create your own from.

CSS image rollover map

July 31st, 2006

Another map has been added to the Dahab section of the main site. It is an image rollover map of the middle east. I thought people may be interested in that particular region at the moment, unfortunately.
There’s an explaination of how it works and you can download the html & css for it if you want to make your own.
